Mei felt the space of the living room seemed way too enormous for her. It was scarcely endurable. Perhaps the house was initially designed just for the sake of Sang, Bing’s only sister, who had been using the ground floor as her embroidery workshop. Due to the same structure, the living room upstairs was even twice the space and more insuff erable when she had to clean. Her bedroom and the guestroom, however, were only big enough for a bed. At night, she often felt like sleeping in a drawer. Then, in the morning, she found herself waking up in outer space. And that moment, she was crucifi ed by this tremendous shift.
